Water & Wastewater Operator Level 1 Training

Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) in partnership with Yellowhead Tribal Council and Yellowhead Tribal College

Water & Wastewater Operator Certification

Gain the skills needed to protect your community’s drinking water and environment while building a rewarding career in water and wastewater operations.

This training program combines academic upgrading, safety certifications, technical training, and hands-on practicum experience to prepare participants for Level 1 Provincial Operator Certification.

Program Requirements

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• English 30-2
• Math 20-2

• One of the following: Biology 20, Chemistry 20, Physics 20, or Science 20

Training Schedule

April 6 – June 26, 2026
YTC Academic Upgrading (Math, English & Science)

June 28 – July 3, 2026
Safety Training

• First Aid
• WHMIS
• TDG
• CSTS

July 6 – August 28, 2026
NAIT Training

• Level 1 Preparation
• Math Booster

September 7, 2026 – March 31, 2027
Hands-On Practicum Training & Level 1 Provincial Testing
