Yellowhead Tribal College in Edmonton, Alberta, is looking for an experienced professional to guide post-secondary students through a self-assessment of their mental health as they participate in cultural activities at the college. This is a full-time contract position that will run from September 4, 2018 to May 3, 2019 (8 months).
Responsibilities will include:
Designing and leading workshops to help students understand and describe their growth and change
Coordinating students’ consultations with Elders
Conducting pre- and post-evaluations of students’ mental health literacy
Developing a network of community-based clinical mental health resources to help support students
Serving as a student support and advocacy resource, helping to connect students to existing resources
Reporting on the results of the program
Other duties as required
The successful candidate must possess the following:
Demonstrated ability to facilitate workshops
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Familiarity with a range of Indigenous cultural practices and methods of addressing health and healing
Qualifications:
Minimum of a diploma in social work, a health discipline, or a related field
Minimum of two years’ experience in social work, counseling, teaching, community health, or another related field
Salary:
$2,285 biweekly
