The numeracy coach will be responsible for overseeing the assessment of students in two of our K-12 schools: Kipohtakaw School (Alexander First Nation) and Alexis Nakota Sioux School (Alexis Nakota Sioux Nation). The incumbent will provide professional advice regarding curriculum, instruction, and assessment to our school teachers. The Numeracy Coach will work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and the K-12 Education Support Services (ESS) team to improve student achievement in numeracy. The Numeracy Coach will advise on appropriate school-based supports for teachers as they implement effective numeracy instruction and assessment practices. In addition to optimism, a coach must be able to communicate effectively with teachers: listening to individual needs, offering ideas, and making suggestions for improvement. This position will require additional duties in support of school improvement and success. Knowledge of Cree and/or Stoney cultures is an asset.
Our offices are located in Edmonton. Extensive travel to the member First Nation communities as required and/or requested.
Work schedule is dictated by the YTC K-12 ESS Director in accordance with project funding and agreement compliance.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
