The Yellowhead Tribal Council (YTC) is hiring for the position of Opioid Project Coordinator. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and culturally unique environment. The project will ensure measurable increases in the capacity of community members to respond to opioid overdoses in a prompt and potentially life-saving way. Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Holds community engagement sessions with the YTC member Nations and multi-disciplinary professionals, managers, and service providers and/or existing community interagency committees.
- Identifies and develops major awareness initiative, including the creation, distribution, and display of informational material in visible locations in each community to create increased awareness on issues related to the opioid crisis.
- Conducts training in each member Nation through community education forums on the risks associated with potential overdose for opioids as well as other drugs (e.g., crystal meth, cocaine/crack) contaminated with fentanyl or analogues.
- Partners with community schools to facilitate training and naloxone kit distribution to youth.
- Ensures broad consultation with students and communities regarding initiative development and implementation.
Employment Requirements & Qualifications:
- Completion of a college or university program in social work, child and youth care, psychology, or other social science or health- related discipline
- Three (3) years of related project coordination experience or related experience in coordination
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of health promotion
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong facilitation skills including the ability to plan and facilitate collaborative group meetings
- Superior organizational and time-management skills as well as initiative and strong interpersonal skills
- Experience in project management and collaboration
- Experience managing and maintaining budgets
