Yellowhead Tribal College Library, located on Treaty 6 territory in Edmonton, Alberta, is looking for an enthusiastic Library Technician to join our team! This is a permanent, full-time position at a small First Nations library that is a vibrant hub for Yellowhead Tribal College. The Library Technician supports library operations and provides welcoming, efficient customer service to students, staff, and community members. Start date: October 28, 2019. 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Providing in-person and telephone reference and technology help at library service desk
  • Performing circulation functions such as checking out, checking in, and maintaining patron records
  • Shelving, straightening, and organizing library materials
  • Processing interlibrary loan (ILL) requests
  • Assisting with the processing of new acquisitions to the collection
  • Maintaining and updating repository of course syllabi for all programs
  • Assisting library users with the re-setting of Gmail passwords
  • Other duties as required


Requirements:

  • Positive attitude and sincere interest in helping people
  • Superb organizational skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to use and troubleshoot computer technology such as Microsoft Office and Google Apps for Education
  • Familiarity with SirsiDynix Symphony ILS software is an asset
  • Knowledge of First Nations culture and the ability to speak and/or write an Indigenous language is an asset


Qualifications:

  • Library and Information Technician Diploma (preferred) or equivalent combination of related post-secondary education and experience 


Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience
