Introducing our New Health Director

Claudette Rain

January 8th, 2023, Edmonton, Treaty No. 6 Territory: The Yellowhead Tribal Council (YTC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Claudette Rain as the Health Director of YTC.

Claudette Rain 2024

Claudette joined the Yellowhead Tribal Council as the Health Director on January 8, 2024, after working with the Council of Ministers of Education, Canada as the National Coordinator of Indigenous Education. Claudette’s professional career has spanned a number of interesting, challenging, and productive leadership opportunities including working with First Nations, grassroots organizations, post-secondary institutions, federal, provincial, and municipal governments, and pan-Canadian governmental organizations; always with the intention of bridging cultural differences while creating, implementing, and supporting programs and services for Indigenous Peoples.

Born in Edmonton, Alberta and authentically raised in the beautiful Treaty No. 6 Territory in the Paul First Nation, she is of Cree and Nakota Sioux descent. Her parents are Edna Bearhead–Rain, and the late Olin Rain Sr.

“I am thankful and pleased to have joined the Yellowhead Tribal Council to support their extensive mandate, specifically in the area of health. I am currently enrolled in a doctoral program with a completion date of 2027. An interesting fact about me, I continue to hold fast to the culture and traditions of my family through practicing our cultural and traditional ways while passing those teachings, and new learnings on to my grandchildren. This is a priority for me”.
