The Maintenance Management Advisor provides essential technical support, planning, and advisory services to the four member Nations: O'Chiese First Nation, Sunchild First Nation, Alexis Nakota Sioux Nation, and Alexander First Nation. This includes assistance with both existing infrastructure and new or proposed capital projects, ensuring the long-term sustainability and safety of community assets.
Project Planning & Development
Assist in the preparation of proposals and planning for new construction or upgrades to public buildings and residential facilities.
Operation & Maintenance (O&M) Planning
Develop and implement detailed work plans for the effective operation and maintenance of community infrastructure, including public buildings, water systems, HVAC, and lift stations.
Technical Assessments
Analyze facility maintenance requirements, define maintenance tasks, and ensure all activities comply with relevant codes, standards, and best practices.
Preventive Maintenance Systems
Establish and manage a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to track, schedule, and monitor maintenance activities, ensuring work quality, progress, and timely completion.
Reporting & Accountability
Prepare comprehensive annual Operation & Maintenance (O&M) Reports that include:
Short- and long-term work plans
Performance updates
Financial accountability
Reporting requirements as per Indigenous Services Canada (ISC), Yellowhead Tribal Council, and member First Nations

Skilled Trades Training & Infrastructure Support for First Nations
The Project Maintenance Management Advisor plays a vital role in delivering technical training and capacity-building support to First Nation communities within the Yellowhead Tribal Council (YTC). Through hands-on instruction and mentorship, we equip students and community field operators with the practical knowledge and skills needed to manage and maintain essential infrastructure systems — including HVAC, boilers, water treatment systems, lift stations, and residential mechanical components.
We offer certified, job-ready training programs focused on key areas such as:
Start-up and shutdown procedures
Troubleshooting and performance optimization
Routine maintenance: oil changes, filter replacements, pressure checks
Lockout/Tag-out (LOTO) training
Hazard identification and safety protocols
Emergency response and incident reporting
Understanding boiler components: gauges, expansion tanks, water tubes, etc.
Pipe fitting, welding support, valve installation
Working with sump pumps, glycol systems, and hydraulic power units
Using PCPs (Process Control Panels) for system monitoring and adjustments
Introduction to BMS (Building Management Systems)
Conducting air-balancing tests and mechanical system inspections
Residential furnace maintenance and repair
Lift station inspection and maintenance
Reading blueprints, pipe layouts, and understanding plumbing codes
Hands-On Field Training: Delivered directly on-site in First Nations communities
Workshop & Classroom Instruction: Covers safety procedures, code compliance, and theoretical knowledge
Mentorship Model: Students are paired with experienced operators and tradespeople
Flexible Scheduling: Part-time and seasonal options tailored to each community’s needs
Indigenous youth exploring careers in the trades
