Builds youth leadership, identity, and resilience through empowerment programs.
The Youth Program at Yellowhead Tribal Council (YTC) empowers young people through a culturally grounded, community-focused approach. Rooted in traditional knowledge and guided by the wisdom of Elders, the program is designed to build strong foundations in leadership, resilience, and identity.
Through interactive workshops, mentorship, and hands-on experiences, youth explore ten core areas: communications, housing, child and family services, urban engagement, justice, employment, education, health, sustainability, and governance. Each activity is shaped to develop real-world skills, foster cultural awareness, and support youth in becoming confident, future-ready leaders.
The program not only connects young members to their heritage but also strengthens their access to YTC’s wide range of services—encouraging active involvement and lifelong connection to their communities.
Our Mission
To empower and equip young members of the Yellowhead Tribal Council through a culturally rooted, community-centered program that nurtures leadership, resilience, and a commitment to personal and professional success in service to their Nations.
Our Work with Youth
At YTC, our youth work goes beyond programming—it's a movement to cultivate leadership, pride, and purpose. We work directly with youth to:
Deliver culturally informed workshops and leadership training
Offer mentorship and guidance from Elders and community leaders
Provide hands-on learning opportunities tied to real-world needs
Support youth navigating systems such as justice, housing, and education
Strengthen ties between youth and their communities through events, volunteerism, and resource access
By centering community values and culture in everything we do, our work builds a bridge between tradition and tomorrow. We are here to support the next generation in taking their place as strong, capable, and connected Nation builders.
