POSITION OVERVIEW:

Reporting to the Project Coordinator of Urban Programming, The Wellness Guide will assist in the implementation, coordination and delivery of the YTC Urban Program focusing on Food Security & Housing Support, Wellness Initiatives, COVID-19 Supports such as PPE provision and assistance to attend medical appointments/accessing medication or medical equipment/supplies to members of the YTC member First Nations (Alexander First Nation, Alexis Nakota Sioux Nation, O’Chiese First Nation and Sunchild First Nation) who reside in an urban/rural setting. 


All of these services are delivered while respecting the protocols and mandate of YTC and the unique cultural traditions and protocols of each Nation.  The goal of this service is to promote wellness and connect individuals and families to existing benefits and resources during the unpredictable times of the COVID-19 Pandemic.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Diploma/Degree in Social Work, Child and Youth Care preferred. Other diplomas, degrees or lived experience may be considered.


SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

  • As we are in the midst of the Covid 19-Pandemic services are primarily delivered via the phone. Depending on government restrictions, services may be delivered while following necessary precautions. All PPE is provided for conducting YTC business.

  • Delivery of food/PPE/other forms of assistance to rural/urban designated sites

  • Assist in bringing urban members to medical appointments or assisting those members to attain their medication or medical equipment.


WORKING CONDITIONS: 

  • A flexible work environment with some expectation to work in the evening and on weekends to accommodate any public events or special services.

  • Must have their own transportation, ability to travel long distances, 

  • Some overnight travel is required. 

  • Ability to frequently lift up to 25lbs, bending and carrying.

  • Some work is required outside while loading/unloading and delivery of supplies.


Salary will be determined according to qualifications and experience.
