May 5th marks the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit People (MMIWG2S) — also known as Red Dress Day. Yellowhead Tribal Council honoured this powerful day with ceremony, reflection, and art.

We gathered to remember and raise awareness for the lives of Indigenous people taken from us too soon. Our hearts were with families, survivors, and all who carry this grief and fight for justice.

A special part of the event was the unveiling of three incredible artist-designed illustrations, featured on commemorative t-shirts. These meaningful artworks shine a light on a tragic epidemic that affects Indigenous peoples across Canada and around the world.

Highlights:

  • Opening prayer & family acknowledgment
  • Presentation of logo winners
  • Community gathering with lunch and reflection
We hope this day brought a sense of hope, healing, and unity as we continue our journey of remembrance.
